Miss K’s mom is a friend of mine, but I hadn’t seen this blonde-haired, blue-eyed big sister-to-be since she was a tiny baby! Where does the time go? Now K is two (”and a half!”, she’ll tell you) and full of personality. We had so much fun getting reacquainted (her favorite color is pink, she loves to sing “John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt,” and she can’t wait to share things with her little sister, who should be arriving any day now). And Miss K was even tough enough to don her favorite princess frock for a while, despite the not-even sixty degree temperatures that morning. Now that’s dedication. Hope you enjoy your sneak peek, K and family! Can’t wait to meet your new addition soon.

Jamie: Wow, it's hard to choose a favorite of these beauties. I don't know if I like the second one best, where the flowers match her outfit (how did you manage that?!) or the last image where she just looks precious. Gorgeous work, Jenn. As always, love the light, too!

Dorie: What a beauty with such great eyes. Love the purple flowers around her. Great Bokeh in all of them.

Shana Campbell: Where did you find those purple flowers? Stunning!

staci: hi Jenn....just your up north neighbor dropping in to say hi!....your work is fantastic! Love your editing....so dreamy and whimsical!!!!

Fashionably Late

Mr. M made his mama and dad wait over week past the date he was expected to arrive to meet him! But this sweet little guy was clearly well worth the wait.

Seems like just the other day my sessions were all shorts and sundresses. But last weekend’s early morning session with Mackenzie and Nicholas was a wake-up call for me in more ways than one! Post-dawn, it was brisk enough out at the park to call for much warmer attire. And a few leaves had even fallen! Mackenzie, her mom, dad, baby brother and I had a great time exploring the changing scenery while scouting for frogs and ducks. This gorgeous little blonde girl and I go way back. Well, she and my daughter, Violet, go way back – which, for 2 year olds, means all the way back to infancy! Now those two are “so big,” and they’ve got younger siblings too. (Violet’s won’t be here for a few months yet, but she’s on her way . . .) Lil’ Mac’s little brother, Nicholas, is hardly little any more, though – check him out! Gotta love baby chub. Thanks for spending the morning with me, Mackenzie and Nicholas! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Jamie: Jenn, these are stunning. The colors are beautiful, the light is gorgeous and I think this is my favorite session of yours to date.

Kirsty-Abu Dhabi: Oh my goodness, these are adorable - what divine autumnal light - just beautiful pictures

Ginger Haddock: I had to pick my bottom jaw up off the floor. These skin tones are perfection. And the light and colors??Gorgeousness. # 3, are you kidding me?????

Shana Campbell: Fantastic job, yet again! Love the crisp detail (every fiber!), colors - and of course the objects are adorable. I'm lovin' the one of N. in his fish hat - love them all!

I know I’m a little bit biased. My own daughter just turned two in August, and I am absolutely loving this age. So when Conor’s mom called to schedule a session in honor of his second birthday, I couldn’t wait to meet him and enjoy his two-dom, too. As you can see, Conor did not disappoint. This little guy was everything that is so great about two – energetic and enthusiastic, sweet and spunky, and 100% himself from the moment we met. That’s the thing I love most about toddlers – they don’t worry about what they think you want to see, they’re ready to show you who they really are as soon as you’re willing to let them. And that’s exactly the kid I’m looking to capture. Conor, I had a blast getting to know you last weekend. i hope you and your mom and dad enjoy your sneak peek!

Jamie: What a cutie! Love his curls almost as much as I love that shot of him with his mama.

Dorie: What a handsome guy. I love this age too! You captured his spirit.

Family Fun

September 4, 2009

After my own “summer vacation” of sorts (which did include some vacationing and celebration(s) of Violet’s second birthday, as well as less-relaxing but very productive work eliminating items that have lingered on the to-do list for far too long), I returned to one of my favorite parks to photograph this family last weekend. And had so much fun, I felt like I was still on vacation! Two (almost three!) year-old Elise kept us all moving – and more importantly, laughing – the whole time. Big sister Tess and her mom and dad were no strangers to silliness themselves; the smiles in this session were absolutely infectious. Thanks for a fantastic Saturday morning, B family! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

Tracey: Jenn, these pictures are beautiful and your website looks fabulous!!! Congrats! Tracey

I had the privilege of photographing this gorgeous family last weekend. But not only were they stunning (and perfectly put-together!), they were such great sports about traipsing around downtown Meridian in near-triple digit temperatures! And they even brought along an assistant (who probably didn’t realize what he was getting roped into when he agreed to spend the night with 11 year-old Evan) – I put him to work warning me of traffic before I got run over as I stood in the middle of the street to shoot. Noelle, Lance, Evan, and Andrea, I had such a good time hanging out with you all. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Dorie: It is always good to have someone warn you of traffic when you are standing in the middle of the street trying to get a shot. What a great looking family!

I met little Katie and her mom and dad last weekend and noticed something right away: Katie’s parents are clearly smitten with her. Lucky for them their little girl is a laid-back sweetheart who wouldn’t dream of taking advantage, I’m sure. But honestly, who could resist those incredible blue eyes, and the way she lights up as soon as her mama launches into the ABC song? I had so much fun getting to know you, Katie! Your mom and dad, too. Hope you all enjoy your sneak peek!

Mine

July 14, 2009

Violet, 23 months

She lives with me, ergo she lives with a camera in her face. You’ll see her around here regularly. This image is my current favorite, in part because of how it came about:¬†she posed for¬†this voluntarily! It was like Christmas morning for me. That’s right,¬†Violet, you never have to buy me a Mother’s Day gift – just cooperate with me and my camera and I’ll be over the moon.

Megan Parker: stunning!

Shana Campbell: She has such amazing eyes and so much joy in her face all the time. I love her!

Stylin’

July 5, 2009

If you’ve been watching the blog, you’ll notice right away that this session was something very different from what I’ve been sharing recently. First, my subjects were both over four feet tall. (Well over, in fact – good thing I was able to find chairs to perch myself on at our location!) But not only was I working with teenagers instead of toddlers, these two had something other than lush landscaping in mind for the setting of their session. So we hit downtown Boise for a more urban vibe, which totally suited their style. Sarah and Brian, I had a blast hanging out with you (and your mom!). Thanks again for spending the morning with me – hope you enjoy your sneak peek!
(Oh, and speaking of style, this blog got a major makeover last week thanks to the phenomenal talent of Jodi Bell at Chocolate Cactus Designs. Thanks again, Jodi!!)

Michelle: Excellent set! The backgrounds do really seem to compliment these two gorgeous teens.

Jamie Siever: Jenn, these look amazing! I love this new look from you - these two are gorgeous and the setting is great! Plus, love the new blog! It looks incredible.

Dorie: These are such nice pictures of two great looking kids. Def. think more urban was the way to go on this.

Violet and her Dad returned home from their afternoon at the discovery center and the park yesterday to find me in front of the computer again, editing images from last weekend’s session. “Hi Mama,” my baby greeted me . . . and then she saw what was onscreen. “CASEY!!!” She shrieked. She was so excited; I’m glad she didn’t faint. Her reaction is understandable – Casey may not be a movie star (yet), but he is her very best friend. He’s also one of the sweetest kids I know, and I had so much fun exploring the park with him last Sunday. We discovered a deer, two turtles, a snake, a butterfly, and countless geese on our little adventure! His mama was a huge help, too: I don’t know that I’d be up for that many rounds of ring-around-the-rosy at 39 weeks pregnant. Hope you get a chance to enjoy your sneak peek before Casey’s little brother makes his appearance, C!

Shana Campbell: Oh my goodness! These are fabulous. I had to take a peek after you mentioned it this morning. I have tried to take pics of him busy at play, and he is such a tease - turns his back to me every time I get the camera out! To get the smiles and looks you did - amazing!

Jamie Siever: I understand Violet's reaction - that Casey is one handsome guy! And, your photos of him are beautiful!

Dorie: Don't you love when they recognize their friends on the computer? She has great taste. You captured him beautifully.
